Undergraduate StudentsWe accept applications year round for research volunteers; however, we do not always have space. Interested UTEP undergraduate students should complete an application form (below). Please submit your application no later than August 15 2025 to be considered for a research volunteer position during Fall 2025. Applications submitted after that deadline will be reviewed based on remaining available spots on a rolling basis. Selected finalists will be invited to interview mid-late August.
A minimum of 10 hours a week is expected, though 20 hours a week is strongly recommended. Due to the demanding time commitment associated with working in a behavior lab, we typically do not accept students beyond their freshman or sophomore year at the time of application. However, all completed applications will be considered. We do also review applications from recent college graduates who are taking a gap year/time off before applying to graduate or medical school, or current medical students who live in El Paso. You do not need to be enrolled at UTEP to be eligible to volunteer, but there are no remote opportunities at this time (so you do need to be available in the El Paso area). ![]()
Not in college yet but interested in gaining research experience? El Paso area high school students are welcome to reach out to Dr. Serafine about opportunities too! Email her at [email protected] for more information.
